Burgers are a favorite comfort food of mine. Now that our grill is here, we’re putting it to work, and burgers have become a weekend staple.
We do a 50/50 mix: half ground beef and half ground pork. Ground beef on its own can be bland; the pork gives the burger more umami. Mix in salt, pepper (and chili powder, if you’re so inclined), shape the patties as thick or thin as you like, and throw them on the grill.
I recommend slicing up a potato or two. The potato will take longer than the burger to cook (about 30 min.), so place it on the grill first, making sure to give it a bit of olive oil to help it cook.
The burgers shouldn’t take long; about 5 min. a side. Resist the temptation to press down on the patties because you’ll lose precious burger juice if you do.
