Beef and Bean Tostada

beef and bean tostada

Tostadas are fast becoming one of my favorite dishes. They’re full of savory, deep-fried deliciousness. This version is topped with a ground beef and black bean mix.


4 tortillas
1/2 pack ground beef
1 small onion, sliced
1 can black beans, drained
soy sauce to taste
garlic powder to taste
cumin to taste
pepper to taste


sour cream
cheddar, grated
cucumbers, sliced
parsley, chopped

Saute the onion for about 5 min. in a large pan, then add the beef. When the beef is about halfway cooked, stir in the black beans, soy sauce, garlic powder, cumin and pepper and finish cooking the beef.

When beef mix is ready, heat up a shallow pool of canola oil in a small or medium pan and fry each tortilla until golden brown on both sides (should only take a few seconds per side if the oil is sufficiently hot).

Top the fried tortilla with the beef mix and garnish.
