On a drive to Denarau, an island resort town in Fiji, we discovered Café Planet, located alongside Queens Road, one of Fiji’s narrow highways.
It’s a cozy spot with both indoor and outdoor seating. The inside benefits from a refreshing breeze, and the patio area is large and surrounded by tropical greenery.
On the drive to Denarau, we stopped by for lunch. I had been behind the wheel and welcomed the break from the hot sun.
The staff is very friendly, and the menu includes vegetarian fare.
We ordered a detox shake with turmeric and ginger and a blueberry-based shake, plus a chicken pie and a vegetarian sandwich.
We told the staff we’d return on our way back from Denarau a few days later, and we kept our word. That time, we ordered two coconuts, chopped open at the top to drink the fresh water inside. The staff cut open the coconut after we finished drinking so we could eat the jelly (the flesh of young coconut). We also bought a bag of roasted coffee beans to take home.
