Photo Essay: Toberua Island Resort, Fiji

We stayed a few days at Toberua island resort. It’s about a 10-min. drive from Nausori airport on the main island of Viti Levu in Fiji, then a 30-min. boat ride.

The resort is on a small, private island surrounded by the ocean showing off lovely shades of aquamarine, with pretty views of neighboring islands. The vibe is relaxed luxury, with locally influenced architecture and design. You have to pay extra for internet access, and if you have a local SIM, internet is intermittent, so the resort is conducive to slowing down. You can be active with water sports, including diving (the reefs look healthy, although the effects of ocean warming are evident), or you can simply laze about. I found it very relaxing to stare at the water and watch the tide come and go.

The food quality and quantity is good, even for someone with a big appetite like me. The staff is friendly, too.
