We were watching Meyhem Lauren making wasabi mac ‘n’ cheese on “Munchies” the other evening. He took it to the next level with a topping of lump crab meat.
By the way, I recommend watching Meyhem Lauren on “Fuck, That’s Delicious” with Action Bronson (available on Hulu) and on his solo cooking shows (available on “Munchies” on YouTube). He is clever and funny. Great on camera.
I got inspired to add crab meat to my own mac ‘n’ cheese recipe. This isn’t as decadent as Meyhem Lauren’s because I used a cheap can of crab meat containing thin flakes (it was a weeknight, and I wasn’t going all out), but it’s still an interesting twist on a classic.
3/4 penne pasta pack
1 pack sharp cheddar, cut into chunks
1/4 cup mozzarella
1/2 cup whole milk
garlic salt to taste
oregano to taste
1 can crab meat
Preheat oven to 350 deg. F.
Bring water to a boil in a pot, and cook the pasta until al dente (about 10 min.).
Drain the pasta, and place in a baking dish. Add the rest of the ingredients. Cover with foil and bake in oven until cheese melts. Stir the dish thoroughly, add more milk and cheese if desired, then top with crab meat. Garnish with fresh basil.
