Before we parted from the Tongans last weekend, they sent us off with a beautiful fruit basket that included a large soursop.
Soursop is a tropical fruit that I first encountered when we lived in Jamaica. Here, in Fiji, this is the first time that I’ve eaten the actual fruit. It’s juicy and sweet, with a bit of citrus tart.
I really like the flavor, so I made a cocktail out of it, at hubby’s suggestion. It’s nice and simple: A slice of soursop, 1 finger of white rum and 1-2 tsp. of sugar. Muddle the soursop, stir and add ice.
