During our trip to Taveuni, we hiked Bouma (Tavoro) Falls, located in a national park on the eastern side of the island. There are three waterfalls, and if you visit all three, you get a good cardio workout from the climb. It takes about 2 hours to get up to the third waterfall if you’re going at a moderate pace with a few breaks to take in the scenery. We went mid-morning and had lunch at one of the falls.
There is an entrance fee, and the trail is easy to follow and well-marked, but there are some slippery parts with wet rocks. It begins just across the street from the visitors center, and the first waterfall is only a few minutes walk. There’s a lookout tower a little before the diverging paths to get to the second and third waterfalls. It’s got a lovely view of coconut trees and the ocean.
