The Corner Bakery, Suva, Fiji

The Corner Bakery is a dine-in/takeout cafe in the Kundan Singh plaza in Suva. It’s a good place to go when I want something quick and savory, or when I want a sweet treat.

On the savory side, I like to get their pies, particularly the steak-and-cheese pie and the chicken-and-mushroom pie. It’s not unusual for me to eat two pies in one sitting–they’re very tasty.

On the sweet side, I love their caramel bars, which are layered with chocolate and a syrupy crumb crust.

The cafe has expanded its space to include more tables for dining in, and its menu has also expanded. We recently tried the poached eggs in an open-face sandwich for takeaway and really liked it. The eggs were served on avocado toast with house-made whole-grain bread, hollandaise, spinach and mushrooms. I sipped a latte, also from The Corner Bakery, with the breakfast–a good way to start the day.
