Video: Levuka, Fiji’s Original Capital

Levuka is the original capital of Fiji. It was established as a colonial port town in 1830 on the island of Ovalau by David Whippy, an American sailor who jumped ship to settle in the tropics. The town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

You can get there by ferry from Viti Levu. I recommend going as a day trip. The boat ride is about 2 hr. from Natovi Jetty and offers beautiful views of the lush mountainscapes of Fiji’s tropical isles.
